Join us for a day of fun, music, information stalls, forum, talks, workshops and more...

UN World Environment Day is marked every year on June 5. To celebrate this important day the Environment Centre NT (ECNT) is hosting the third “World Environment Day Expo.

The Expo will be held on Sunday 1st June on the lawns at the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT, Fannie Bay from 11.00am to 5pm.
The Expo will be opened at 11.00am by NT Environment Minister, Hon. Len Keily.

Activities for the day include: stalls; displays; workshops; a lunchtime forum featuring Dr Don Henry, Executive Director of the Australian Conservation Foundation; music; children’s activities; food and drink stalls.

The Expo will celebrate and highlight to the community the great work of non-government, community and not-for-profit organisations, as well as government agencies dedicated to environmental protection and sustainability.

The Program

With more than 25 organisations and agencies participating, the Expo will present to the general public a broad spectrum of "who, what and where" of the environmental work being carried out in the NT. It will provide many options to the general public on how they can become involved in a cleaner, greener future.

Stalls. Information: water and energy conservation; recycling; native wildlife; gamba grass & other weeds; environmental funding programs; organic growing; solar power; protecting our marine and river environments; environmental law and more.

Workshops. Learn: Presented by local experts and will cover a range of topics including protecting our unique rivers; climate change; weeds; nuclear issues and indigenous conservation perspectives.

Forum. Discuss:The major environmental challenges Australia faces as it attempts to address global warming and related energy, water, urban and agricultural sustainability crises and find out what we as individuals can do.

Live Music. Listen: Shellie Morris; Town & Country Collective; and others.

Get Involved. Join artists in residence, Emma Stocker and friends, in creating an artpiece from recycled bits and pieces.
