Al Gore trains Territorian to spread the climate change message.

Darwin resident Thea Bray of COOLmob was one of just 85 Australians chosen to be personally trained by Al Gore to deliver his slide show presentation on climate change.

Thea spent two and a half days in Sydney learning the climate change slide show featured in the hit documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, in preparation for delivering 10 of her own presentations. Thea was the only Territorian trained by Mr Gore.

“It was a fantastic experience with a diverse range of people committed to revealing the truth about climate change. I’m really looking forward to providing presentations across the Territory and discussing with communities the imperative for us to act now to avoid dangerous climate change,” said Thea.

The Climate Project – Australia, Al Gore’s climate change leadership program in partnership with the Australian Conservation Foundation, is a grassroots movement to promote awareness and action on climate change.

“The Climate Project in Australia aims to equip citizens with the knowledge and skills to educate the community about the science, impacts and solutions to climate change,” said the Hon Al Gore.

More than 1700 Australians applied to attend the first Australian training session. The selected 85 presenters represent a diverse range of interests and come from all Australian states and territories.

“We have been overwhelmed by community support for the program and the desire to drive real action on climate change,” said ACF Executive Director Don Henry. “As the Australian partner for Al Gore’s Climate Project, we are committed to supporting the climate presenters in their efforts to educate the Australian community about the threats of climate change."

The slide show has been adapted for Australian audiences with additional Australian information on climate science, impacts and solutions.
