How You Can Help |
The NT Government has a
responsibility to protect the Daly River
We can have development without clearing large
areas of land and harming the environment. |

|
|
Let the Chief Minister
of the Northern Territory know you want the Government to scrap any
agricultural proposals that will cause large scale treeclearing and
over-pumping of water for irrigation.

Dear Chief Minister,
Proposals
for large-scale irrigation schemes and clearing of forests and
woodlands in the Daly River Basin are unsustainable and should
never go ahead. I urge you to:
• Stop any further large-scale treeclearing
in the Daly River catchment.
• Stop issuing new licences to pump water
from the Daly River and the ground water supplies that feed the
river.
• Support ecologically sustainable rural enterprises
that do not result in large-scale treeclearing and over-pumping of
water
for
irrigation.
The future of the Daly River is in your hands.
Yours
sincerely,
